Increased demand has enabled the company to expand into new countries throughout Southeast Asia. Former CEO Harry Koh founded Brilliant Manufacturing in 1984. Nidec, a manufacturer of spindle motors for hard-disk drives and motors for other applications, in 2007 acquired Brilliant for about S$170 million ($111 million) in cash.
