Japan Society administrates many cultural and educational offerings including corporate outreach programs, policy discussions, journalistic fellowships, gallery exhibitions, public lectures, and film screenings. The Society also operates the C.V. Starr Library, which contains about 14,000 volumes on all aspects of Japan's culture, and the Toyota Language Center, which offers 12 levels of training in the Japanese language. The institution was founded in 1907 by business leaders in New York City to promote good relations between the US and Japan.
