The Mushroom Company does more than grow in dark places. The Maryland company raises, processes, markets, and distributes all manner of the familiar fungi. It makes quick-blanched refrigerated, frozen, and canned mushrooms. It also offers mushroom sauces and bases, mushroom slices, pizza-diced mushrooms, and breaded appetizers, all under the MGA and MGA Gourmet labels. The company it provides customized processing and private-label packaging services for other food manufacturers and food retailers. The company was founded as the Mushroom Canning Company in 1931 by a group of mushroom farmers. In order to better reflect its range of products and services, it changed its name to The Mushroom Company in 2006.
