Petland sells more than flea collars and kibble -- it sells pets. Petland is a franchise-based pet store that sells kittens, puppies, birds, rodents, tropical fish, and reptiles, as well as the food, grooming supplies, and accessories to care for them. It has about 150 stores in 31 states, about 50 stores in Canada, and a dozen locations in Chile, China, Japan, and South Africa. Petland also offers a credit card by HBSC to finance pet purchases. The company franchises a fish and aquatics store called Aquarium Adventure, of which there are five US locations. Petland was founded in 1967 by Chairman Ed Kunzelman.
