Acacia Technologies offers shade to more than 150 patent portfolios. The company (which is the primary subsidiary of Acacia Research) acquires and licenses patent rights to various technologies related to digital audio-on-demand and video-on-demand transmission. It markets many of these patents under the DMT brand to makers of electronics gear, who incorporate the technologies into applications for cable, satellite, and Internet distribution of digital content. Acacia Technologies has reached licensing agreements with Fujitsu, Pioneer, Sony, and Union Pacific, among other companies.
